IMG PRINCIPALE

Founded in 2003, the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) is a research institution of excellence based in Genoa. Equipped with a network of facilities throughout Italy, the IIT promotes the exchange of knowledge and the acceleration of technological transformation according to an interdisciplinary approach and a future-oriented vision. Its main mission is to conduct frontier research in key sectors such as robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and biomedicine, with the aim of creating innovative solutions for global challenges. The activities of the IIT include basic and applied research, the development of advanced technologies, and collaboration with industries, academic institutions, and governmental bodies. It also plays a crucial role in transferring research results to practical applications, providing cutting-edge infrastructures for the implementation of ambitious national and international projects. Drawing on its experience in these fields, the IIT contributes as a partner to the CTE Genova project by providing all the necessary technologies for the implementation of a cloud robotics system for the automated management of museum deposits and for the digitization and advanced monitoring of the cultural assets stored in them. To achieve this goal, it also relies on the support of one of its detached centers, the Centre for Cultural Heritage Technology (CCHT). Established in 2019, the CCHT aims to promote the development of cutting-edge technologies for the analysis, preservation, and protection of cultural heritage. Its distinctive feature is the ability to focus on less explored areas, aiming to implement existing technologies and create new tools capable of addressing issues related to tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The activities of the CCHT include the creation of innovative solutions for the conservation and enjoyment of artworks and the application of emerging technologies to accurately and accessibly document and preserve cultural heritage. The Center benefits from highly multidisciplinary research that is based on close cooperation with other cultural and scientific institutions, both national and international, and with experts of excellence in the fields of cultural heritage digitization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, molecular sciences, and nanotechnologies. Thanks to its transdisciplinary experience in the field of technology and cultural heritage, within the framework of the CTE Genova project, the CCHT provides its support to IIT for the implementation of an automatic digitization system for museum artworks, integrating cutting-edge technologies with the conservative needs of heritage.
