The CNR, the largest multidisciplinary public research institution in Italy, participates with two institutes: IMATI and ITC. CNR-IMATI-Genoa conducts research on mathematical and computational methods for 3D modeling, 3D analysis, and semantic enrichment of 2D and 3D data in various application sectors. The research at CNR-IMATI-Genoa covers the entire visual media processing pipeline, particularly 3D, from object and environment digitization for creating digital twins, to shape and similarity analysis, to immersive AR/VR interaction, and to 3D printing of physical replicas. ITC-CNR carries out applied research, evaluation, and technical certification activities on topics related to the construction process. In particular, the unit involved focuses on improving the built environment, researching new methods for assessment and verification for the development of construction technologies, evaluating the performance and quality of products, components, and construction systems, from individual buildings to urban scale. Additionally, the research also focuses on the well-being and health of occupants within buildings.
